St. Margarets of Scotland Hospice, Clydebank.

Friday 28th May 2010

Today we received a touching letter from a friend of youth player Kieron Burns' dad regarding his untimely demise. With Kierons' blessing, we're attaching the letter below, and would encourage everyone to read and support the sterling work done by St. Margarets of Scotland Hospice, Clydebank; -

"hi folks,  most of you will already know, and been touched in some way by the sadness that has cloaked our small community recently with the loss of our great friend
Stephen 'Burno' Burns.
for those who may not have had the pleasure of Stephens aquaintance, i can only ask that you accept my judgement on what was a truly remarkable character, a great man and one of the best friends i have ever had.
on the tenth day of april, 2010, and after three and a half years of fighting hard against cancer, the good lord decided that Stephen should suffer no more pain, and took him from this life.
Stephens last few days were spent at St Margarets of Scotland Hospice, Clydebank, where he was tended by Sister Rita and here amazing team of nurses and carers, again for those that may not be familiar with this unbelievable facility, its quite simple, there is none better of its kind.
what makes this even more amazing is that Sister Rita has to work hard to procure funding from various sources and depends largely on charitable donations to keep the hospice in full operation.
a few of Stephens close friends have got together an are arranging a number of fund raising events throughout the summer specifically to raise some money for St Margarets of Scotland Hospice.  one of the main events is a charity hill walk, its a wee stroll of about 97 miles over mountain field and stream from Milngavie to Fort William.  otherwise known as the West Highland Way.  about a dozen of the lads are taking part and could be doing with all the encouragement we can give them.  please lend us your support for this event, as we would love to say a big thanks to Sister Rita and all her staff at St Margarets Hospice, by way of all the donations we get will go straight to the hospice.  to make a donation and find out a wee bit more, please follow the link below onto Gerard Mccarte's ''Burno's Trekk Page''
remember, every little bit helps.  please spare us a couple a bob.

once again, many thanks

the big fellow."
