The damage in this fixture was done in the first half. Thistle fell behind as early as the 4th minute when after conceding a needless corner kick McDougall forced the ball home from close range.
The second goal came in the 40th minute when Gibson was able to chip Hinchcliffe from the edge of the box.
It was game on two minutes after the restart when Paul Cairney drilled a shot into the net from the edge of the box.
Thistle pressed and pressed in search of an equaliser but Dunfermline were always a threat on the break and with the game in injury time Willie Gibson sealed the win for the home side who are now unbeaten in 7 games.
