Partick Thistle Football Club

 Dunfermline Post Match Reaction

Saturday 14th November 2009

In and around a dressing room after a defeat is never a happy place to be and the away dressing room at East End Park this afternoon was certainly no exception. A more disconsolate looking group of Thistle players would be difficult to find. The manager's face too wasn't exactly split in two by a huge grin but neither was he, disappointed as he clearly was, plunged into the depths of despair when he spoke with www.ptfc.co.uk after today's game.

"John Robertson has been my Player of the Year so far but today he has made two mistakes that have cost us really dearly that's just what happens in football sometimes. I felt that that we started the game well and we must have won about 11 corners but the damage for today's defeat was inflicted during the first half and that left us with a mountain to climb after the interval."

"Second half I thought that we were terrific. We got a goal back early on in the second half and from then on we really pressed hard at Dunfermline. We had three or four opportunities to score an equaliser but the ball just wouldn't fall for us. My players though gave everything in the second half and they were urged on by the tremendous backing that we got from the supporters. The feeling in the dressing room after the game was that even though we were 2-0 down at the break that we should have taken something from this game."

"The First Division at the moment is incredibly tight with the about seven teams separated by no more than half a dozen points. We are really disappointed that we lost this afternoon but we are still right in there amongst those teams with genuine hopes of winning the league. Just how competitive this league is reflected by the result at Morton this afternoon. I thought that Raith Rovers were excellent when they came to Firhill and won yet today they lost 5-0"

"Returning to our game a plus point was that Steve Lovell got more time on the park and he is getting sharper all the time. We don't have a competitive game for the next two weeks but we will arrange some games during that time as we aim to get Stevie close to full fitness. We took Jamie Adams off during the second half today but only because we thought that after being booked, which we though was never a booking, that there was a danger that he might be sent off."
