Two goals in two minutes early in the first half was enough to earn Thistle maximum points.
In the 53rd minute David Rowson squared the ball to Liam Buchanan who tucked the ball home for his 11th goal of the season.
Two minutes later he was the creator when he crossed for Simon Donnelly who swept the ball home from close range.
A Ryan McGuffie header that was cleared off the line was all that Morton could offer for the remainder of the game as an impressive Thistle backline shut up shop.
The first half had been a different story though and Jonny Tuffey had to pull of a number of good saves as Morton pressed hard.
