Partick Thistle Football Club

Season Ticket Letter- from Vice Chairman Tom Hughes

Thursday 26th November 2009

Dear Season Ticket Holder

The Manager, the players, the Board of Directors and everyone associated with Firhill would like to take the opportunity of wishing all our supporters all the compliments of the coming festive season. We would also like to remind you of the very valuable vouchers within your Season Ticket book, including a voucher from Caulders Garden Centres for purchase of a real Christmas tree, amongst other things, and vouchers from our excellent merchandisers, Greaves Sports.

There is also a voucher to go to see our Rugby Union friends at Glasgow Warriors at some stage of the season. This year they have built a very strong squad and it is possible to see many full Scottish Internationalists at Firhill. They have become a little unpredictable, like ourselves, and that must be something to do with famous old Stadium. There is a particularly attractive fixture against Edinburgh on 27 December where there should be a large crowd.

On the playing front, we are still very much in contention. In Manager, Ian McCall, we have one of the best managers in Scottish football and he is ably assisted by Gerry Britton and Simon Donnelly. Simon is combining a number of roles but this season has returned to the form which gained many Scottish caps in the 1990s. The rest of the playing squad is very well balanced between young and old, flair and steadiness, and experience and creativity. There is much to look forward to in 2010.

Many initiatives are now available to finance the playing squad. These include the Centenary Fund which is thriving under the leadership of Eddie Prentice, the Ambassador and other packages under the guidance of Denis McQuade, and hospitality and other aspects of the Club supervised by Ami Small and Antonia Kerr. We would like to record our appreciation to all of them.

Our Ambassadors include Jim Bannerman, a lifelong supporter, Bill Minnis of Ashton Studios, whose help with the Centenary Day and the Hall of Fame dinner was invaluable, Nick Nairn, celebrity chef and the Q Club. Denis is gradually building up the Ambassador pool with their own private lounge and seating. If you do wish to make an enquiry or indeed make some kind of arrangement with any of the social enterprise ambassadors then you should contact Denis.

The properties and transaction to transfer the south end and the main stand to a joint venture development company is nearing completion. There has been a delay because of the complex nature of the 50/50 joint venture and establishing the exact requirements of the Football Club. We have, however, raised £1,000,000 and that is no mean feat in the current climate. It is just a question of now finalising the plans and the legal documentation. An announcement will be made in due course.

Finally, we would remind you of the excellent hospitality packages at the Club on match day, which include an excellent lunch, stadium tour, talks by Robert Reid and much, much more. In the year 2010 a 20% discount on normal prices will be available to season ticket holders, apart from the final two home games of the season, which are always sell outs. This can be arranged directly with Ami Small at the Club, whose telephone number is 948 0576, and is subject to availability.

Yours sincerely

Tom Hughes

Vice Chairman
