Partick Thistle Football Club

 An Extra Warm Welcome Please

Friday 2nd October 2009

As has been fairly well documented our excellent 3-2 victory against Inverness last weekend was achieved despite the fact that a number of players were clearly suffering the affects of a quite virulent virus.

Paul Cairney was unwell on the pitch, John Robertson was ill in the dressing room at half-time and at least four other players would have been better off in their beds than on a football pitch.

When you consider the excellent performance and result we produced last Saturday it is easy to underestimate just how unwell some of these players were.

The affects of this virus are still being felt around Firhill at present with a number of players unable to play a full part in training this week. It is testament, therefore, to their commitment to Partick Thistle that they are all desperate to play a part tomorrow when we entertain Airdrie United at Firhill.

The Thistle players always receive a tremendous reception when they come onto the pitch ahead of kick-off but tomorrow we would urge each and every Thistle fan to extend an even warmer welcome than normal to those players who under very difficult circumstances made a fantastic contribution last Saturday.
