Partick Thistle Football Club

 Contract Extensions Signed

Saturday 3rd October 2009

Yesterday here on www.ptfc.co.uk we suggested that are a number of players were close to extending their contracts at Firhill.

We are delighted to announce that the paperwork has been completed on no fewer than four new deals.

Liam Buchanan, Paul Cairney, Kris Doolan and Chris Erskine have all pledged their immediate futures to Partick Thistle by signing one year contract extensions.

The four players are pictured here with manager Ian McCall in the new away top that the team will be wearing for the first time in this afternoon's fixture with Airdrie United at Firhill.

As things stand, therefore, Liam is now contracted until May 2011, Paul until May 2012, Kris until May 2011 and Chris also to May 2011.

Said manager Ian McCall;

"All four players are important players and I'm delighted that they see the ambition that we have for Partick Thistle and are prepared to make a commitment to the Club for the next couple of years at least."

The Thistle supporters have played their part in allowing the Club to extend the contracts of these four important players as Club Chair Allan Cowan explained;

"Ian McCall is doing an excellent job here at Firhill in putting together a team that we can all take pride in. Just as it is important to recruit players in the first place it is also important to retain players and help maintain continuity at the Club. With that in mind we were delighted when Liam, Paul, Kris and Chris agreed to extend their stays at Firhill. The fact that we were able to do so at this time was due in no small measure to the success of the Centenary Fund which continues to grow and provide the Club with invaluable additional income. At our last home game the Club were presented with the latest £15,000 cheque from the Centenary Fund and it was that money that helped secure these four players on extended contracts."
