Dundee 2, Partick Thistle 0
Saturday 10th October 2009
Goals early in each half ultimately proved to be Thistle's downfall but how Thistle emerged from this game without a single goal for their efforts will forever remain a mystery.
Dundee took the lead with the game's first chance in the 4th minute. Leigh Griffiths turning inside the box before planting a low shot into the corner of the net.
After that start to the game Thistle took the match to Dundee and at times produced some sparkling football.
There was also no goal although Liam Buchanan looked to be denied a clear penalty and right on half-time Simon Donnelly rattled a shot off the underside the crossbar.
It took Dundee just two second half minutes to extend their lead when Gary Harkins scored from the edge of the box.
Thistle though never gave up and Chris Erskine and Simon Donnelly were both denied by excellent saves from the Dundee keeper.
The reaction from the Thistle fans, of whom there were 903 at the game, at the finish showed how they felt about the Jags performance but it was ultimately an afternoon of disappointment for Thistle.
