Partick Thistle Football Club

 Dundee After Match Reaction

Saturday 10th October 2009

The reaction from the Thistle fans at the end of the game said it all. Despite seeing their team lose 2-0 and drop from their perch at the top of the league they gave the players a standing ovation as they left the field of play.

At times, especially during a 25 minute spell in the first half, the football produced by Thistle was as good as any Thistle team have produced in many a year.

The overall feeling at the end of the game though was one of disappointment and that disappointment was written all over the manager's face when www.ptfc.co.uk spoke to Ian McCall not long after the final whistle.

"Sometimes you simply don't get what you deserve in football and today was one of those days. The fact that at full-time there was only one set of fans signing, the Thistle fans, says a lot about how the game went. On another day we could have scored five or six but you can't afford to miss the number of chances that we did today. In terms of the type of football that I want to see my teams play I am very proud of my team today and I wasn't in the least bit hard on them after the game. The sense of togetherness that we have at this football club on the playing side and in the boardroom is simply awesome."

"That's every team in the league that we have played now  and if the Board can help bring in a couple of players in January,  we are still a little short in terms of numbers, then I will say this for the first time since I became the manager here. If we can continue to play the type of football that we are at the moment then we have half a chance of winning the First Division this season ."

"Finally I have to say that I was disappointed with the reaction of Gary Harkins to the goal that he scored. Gary is a smashing lad, in many ways a player whom I still think of as my own but I felt that he let himself down a little this afternoon."
