Partick Thistle 2, Airdrie United 0
Saturday 3rd October 2009
With Queen of the South losing at home Morton, Thistle climbed to the top of the league courtesy of a 2-0 win against Airdrie United.
The first half had been fairly uneventful up to the 42nd minute. The game erupted in controversy at that point when Scott McLaughlin's late challenge on Bryan Hodge was deemed worthy of a red card.
With a man advantage Thistle were in total control after the break. In the 52nd
minute Bryan Hodge opened the scoring (pictured) after a fine move and the lead was doubled in the 67th minute when Simon Donnelly converted a Mark Corcoran cut back.
