Ross County 24/10/09 - After Match Reaction

Saturday 24th October 2009

Despite the Dingwall wind and rain Thistle and Ross County served up a thoroughly entertaining 90 minutes at Victoria Park this afternoon.

It is points though not plaudits that help win league titles and there were mixed emotions after the game. As always www.ptfc.co.uk caught up with Ian McCall a short time after the full-time whistle and he provided us with his thoughts on how the game had gone.

"Overall today's result will be a good one if we defeat Raith Rovers at Firhill next Saturday. Today I thought the bulk of the chances that we had came in the first half. We had two or three chances in the second half but nothing compared to what we had during the first 45 minutes. We are confident playing anyone at the moment and some of the football that we played in the first half was terrific and it was a travesty that went in at half-time losing but to be fair it was excellent goal that County scored. I don't think it would have been unfair, however, had we gone in 2-0 or 3-0 ahead the break."

"Recently Liam Buchanan and Simon Donnelly have been the recipients of some well deserved praise. Today though it was the turn for some criticism. The positive thing for me was the fact that they both knew that they hadn't performed as well as they can. Liam in particular had two chances in the first half that if you gave him ten other opportunities to score he would score ten times out of ten. The great thing about Liam is that he never ever hides no matter how he is playing. We were about to take him off today and replace him with Kris Doolan when he popped up and scored."

"Just as Liam never hides when he isn't playing well the Thistle fans never stop providing us with excellent support . Today the support we got was great but how those supporters managed to stand out in the elements with their tops off I don't know."
