Partick Thistle Football Club

 Firhill Centenary

Monday 7th September 2009

Firhill will celebrate its 100 birthday on Saturday September 19th, the date closest to Firhill's first ever match on September 18th 1909 against Dumbarton Harp,  when we host Dunfermline Athletic.

A whole host of events are planned on what we hope will be a real gala occasion.

Running from 11am until 2pm there will be a number of events taking place in the car park outside the Jackie Husband Stand many of them aimed with families and children very much in mind. These will be include:

  • Face Painting
  • Outdoor BBQ
  • Music supplied by SheBoom an all female drum ensemble
  • Refreshment Marquee
  • Tea and Coffee stall run by McMillan Cancer Support
  • Various Stalls

On the pitch we will have some cheerleaders and before the game a schools football competition.

Pre match entertainment will also be provided by Radio Lollipop.

For further information or if you would like to volunteer to help out then please contact Ami Small at ami@ptfc.co.uk or at 0141 579 1971.

In  addition to those planned events there will be a special programme on sale.

As well as the normal features you would expect to see in a 40 page Thistle programme it will contain a 16 page supplement that will look back at 100 years at Firhill.

Firhill, like every football stadium, is about so much more than mere bricks and mortar though. It's the people, the Thistle supporters, that add life and vibrancy to the stadium.

As such we would like to see the Thistle fans make a contribution to this supplement by sharing your own personal memories of Firhill

If you have anything you would like to share and see included in this publication then please e-mail mail@ptfc.co.uk with the subject heading Firhill Memories.
