Partick Thistle Football Club

 Inverness - After Match Reaction

Sunday 6th September 2009

The pain of defeat on penalties was written all over Ian McCall's face when he spoke to www.ptfc.co.uk after this afternoon's game with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

"In the great scheme of things the Challenge Cup might not be the most important thing, a fact reflected by the attendance today, but everyone in the home dressing room is absolutely gutted right now."

"I don't think that we deserved that. I felt that in the first twenty minutes or so we were a bit shoddy but after that I thought that we were terrific and were the better team. I thought that we played a lot of really good football. We moved the ball about the park well and passed the ball well and I thought we dominated about 80% of a game against a side that were in the SPL last season."

"While we are obviously so very disappointed to go out of the Challenge Cup we have to look back on the game and take some real positives from the match and there were a number of excellent individual performances along side a good team display. It was just one of those afternoons where luck wasn't on our side."

"Some fans might be wondering why we took Mark Corcoran off after just thirty minutes. Mark has been struggling with tonsillitis and didn't train for the last two days. We decided though after what he did last week to start with him but it just didn't work out for him."
