Raith Rovers 1, Partick Thistle 1
Saturday 12th September 2009
It was an afternoon of controversy at Stark's Park. The game's most contentious moment and what could have been a pivotal moment came in the 41st minute. With the score tied at 0-0 Liam Buchanan was sent off in mysterious circumstances following an incident, we can only surmise, involving Raith's Mark Campbell.
Raith had been the better side up to that point and Thistle had to thank Paul Cairney for keeping the score at 0-0 when he cleared off the line to deny Williamson what looked set to be the opening goal.
Thistle showed plenty of spirit despite their numerical disadvantage but what looked to be decisive goal came in the 67th minute when Casalinuovo headed home a Sloan corner.
Thistle though didn't give up and after the numbers were evened when Campbell was sent off Kris Doolan was on hand to score with an overhead kick with time fast running out.
In a frantic close to the game both sides had chances to win the match.
