Only the 19s were in action this weekend (24th) when they travelled to Forthbank to face Stirling Albion, coming off the back of a 1-0 victory over Stenhousemuir. It was another good night for the young Jags as they came away with another clean sheet and a two goal win.
The 19s, being coached by Barry McLelland and Dave MacKay, due to Ian Cameron being away with the first-team leapt into action as early as the 7th minute when Shaun Fraser put in a good cross to be met by Garry Sweeney but the goalkeeper did well to block.
Thistle took the lead in 16 minutes, direct from a throw-in on the right side, Shaun Fraser swivelled and shot into the net. 6 minutes later and the lead was doubled. A free-kick played low on the right found Shaun Fraser who layed it off for full-time yt boy Stuart Bannigan to shot into the top corner. Garry Sweeney was again unlucky as his chance went by the post.
Into the second half and Jonathon Baxter was replaced by recently injured Ross McGeough.
Stirling had a chance to pull a goal back but Kyle Lochhead made a great block on the goalline. Graeme Shepherd, the young Jags keeper, was star man in this game, pulling off a string of saves and giving Ian Cameron a real headache as Ryan Scully is also improving game-by-game.
The 19s are due to face Queen of the South at Beith this Sunday, details to follow, while the 14s travel to Rosyth to take on Cowdenbeath, 12 noon kick-off. Meanwhile, the 16s entertain Cowdenbeath at Petershill Park with a 4.00pm kick-off
