Co-Operative Insurance Cup Second Round Draw

The draw for the Second Round of this season’s Co-Operative Insurance Cup has handed Thistle a home draw against fellow First Division side Falkirk.
The tie is scheduled to take place on either Tuesday August 24th or Wednesday August 25th.
Five years have passed since Thistle last faced Falkirk in the League Cup. Falkirk defeating Thistle 2-1, despite a Ricky Gillies goal, at the Falkirk Stadium in August 2005.
In total Thistle and Falkirk have met 13 times in the League Cup. The first meeting a Sectional match in August 1947 at Brockville which Thistle won by an amazing 6-5 score line.
The most famous League Cup meeting, however, was the 1971 Semi-Final which Thistle won 2-0 on the way to a Final triumph against Celtic.
