Partick Thistle Football Club

 Cowdenbeath - After Match Reaction

Saturday 28th August 2010

As a football club Partick Thistle have suffered may lows across its’ 134 year history. Today’s defeat at Cowdenbeath was far from the worst moment in those 134 years but it was a mighty painful one all the same.

After the game manager Ian McCall was short and brutally honest with his assessment of how the game went when he spoke to www.ptfc.co.uk

“There has been a lot of talk at this club recently about the cuts that have had to be made but that has absolutely nothing to do with what happened today. Today’s result is down to me and it is my responsibility, as manager, to make us better.”

“There were a lot of punters that went away from today’s game very disappointed and they have every right to be so. We’ve no excuses at all for today’s defeat.”

“We don’t have a divine right to beat Cowdenbeath away from home, as other teams will find out this season, and we have to show them the respect that they deserve, but this was the kind of game that we really should be looking to win. Having scored first it was so disappointing that we conceded so soon after scoring. We’ve not defended a long throw and while there was probably a push on David Rowson that’s not why we lost today.”

“As I’ve already said, today’s defeat is down to me. I, nobody else, need to work at making our players better as I’m not in a position to make any changes. I’m not going to start to panic because we’ve lost away to Cowdenbeath but we must be better than that. I need to work the players, make sure that they work their socks off in every training session and I need to find a shape that best suits the players we have.”
