 Radio Merseyside 'Adopt' Partick Thistle

Thursday 19th August 2010

BBC Radio Merseyside’s Sport’s Team have ‘adopted’ Partick Thistle for season 2010/2011.

As Peter Warbutton, a regular contributor on Radio Merseyside explained;

“Liverpool’s local BBC radio station ‘BBC Radio Merseyside’ sports team has ‘adopted’ this season Partick Thistle as their second team. Most of the presenters, researchers and contributors being local, their first loves cover Liverpool, Everton, Tranmere Rovers, Southport and Chester.”

 “I contribute regularly on Radio Merseyside, being a Liverpool season ticket holder, and I  was delighted when the Jags were selected, as Partick Thistle  have been my ‘second team’ for many years, following a selection process chaired by my late Uncle David Lamb (a Maryhill boy). He told me and my father to ‘Forget the Old Firm, as the Jags are the best team in Scotland!’”

“So from the late 70’s onward, I’ve looked out for their results, following the highs and lows of being a Jags follower.”

“The photos below were taken after last Tuesday night’s programme, when we spoke live to Ian Maxwell, Thistle’s assistant manager.”

“ We look forward to following the fortunes of Partick Thistle throughout the season and are looking to keep up contact and maybe pay Firhill a visit for a match! “
