John Hagart
Wednesday 2nd June 2010
All at Firhill were saddened to learn of the passing of John Hagart.
John Hagart was assistant to then Thistle manager Derek Johnstone in season 1986/87 and assumed temporary charge between Johnstone’s dismissal and the subsequent appointment of Billy Lamont later that season.
As a player John played with Luton Town and Berwick Rangers before establishing a career in the Junior ranks which eventually lead to him becoming manager at Newtongrange Star before joining the coaching staff at Hearts.
In November 1974 he became the Hearts manager a position he held until 1978. In the summer of 1978 he accompanied Scotland to Argentina as Ally McLeod’s assistant before becoming the manager of Falkirk.
In addition to his spell at Firhill, John had spells on the coaching staffs of Motherwell and Rangers.
Our thoughts are with John’s family and friends at this sad time.
