 New Loan Jag

Tuesday 7th February 2012

Thistle today completed the transfer, on loan to March 30th, of Hibs midfielder Sean Welsh.

Sean, 21, has progressed through the youth ranks at Easter Road although he hasn't, as yet, made the breakthrough into the Hibs first team. He has, however, had spells on loan with firstly Stenhousemuir, and in last season's First Division with Stirling Albion where he scored once from 17 first team appearances.

Said manager Jackie McNamara;

"Sean is a good passer of the ball and can play in a few positions in midfield and can score a goal or two. He will be a good addition to our squad."

Towards the end of last week two players left the Club. Iain Flannigan being released from his contract while Johnny Lindsay headed out on loan to Brechin City. Johnny though, as the manager stressed, still has a future at Firhill.

"Johnny needs game time and that is why he has gone out on loan. The form of Aaron Sinclair has made it hard for him to get into the side but in the game he did play, against Hamilton, he did well. Johnny is contracted for another year and hopefully we will see the benefit of his time out on loan when he returns."

The manager was also pleased that aforementioned Aaron Sinclair remained at Firhill during the January transfer window.

"There were a few clubs sniffing about and a few phone calls but it never came to anything. We are delighted that he will be here until the end of the season at least. He hasn't long turned full-time and he has really stepped up to the mark since he joined us last summer."
