 Simon Donnelly

Simon Donnelly

Like manager Jackie McNamara, Simon Donnelly has enjoyed a notable career. His career began with Queen’s Park before joining Celtic in 1993, making his first team debut against Hibs towards the end of the 1993/1994 season.

In total Simon would spend six years with Celtic during which time he would win winners medals in the Premier League, Scottish and League cups.

It was also during his spell as a Celtic player that he would win the first of his ten full international caps for Scotland.

In July 1999 Simon took the opportunity to play in the English Premiership when he joined Sheffield Wednesday. Donnelly would remain with Sheffield Wednesday until 2003, by which time they had been relegated from England’s top flight, when he joined St Johnstone.

After a season with St Johnstone, Simon spent two years with Dunfermline before arriving at Firhill in the summer of 2006 when he was signed by the then Thistle manager Dick Campbell.

The end of the current season sees Simon with 153 Thistle appearances to his name during which he had scored 19 times but the majority of his efforts are no focused on assisting manager Jackie McNamara.
