Loan Round-Up – September 2026

Seven young players from our first team group have been out on loan so far this season gaining valuable experience of playing in senior football – here’s how they’ve been getting on:

LIAM ROONEY

Off the back of a temporary spell at Pollok last season, Liam Rooney moved up to League 2 for the new campaign when he joined Clyde in July. The right-back has been a regular feature for the Bully Wee, playing 15 times across all competitions with nearly 1000 minutes under his belt already.

Liam has started seven out of eight league matches for Darren Young’s side who sit top of the table with 17 points.

CONNOR STOREY

Goalkeeper Connor Storey has experienced the unique milieu of an emergency loan on two occasions this term.

Firstly, he went out to Pollok at the end of July but he didn’t see action at Newlandsfield Park, instead featuring on the bench for games against Troon and Renfrew.

He did, however, get on the pitch when he made the short-term switch to Arthurlie as he started a 3-0 win against St. Roch’s at Dunterlie Park on 29th August before returning to Maryhill.

DANIEL GRAY

One of this summer’s new modern apprentices, Daniel Gray moved to Kilwinning Rangers on loan just over a month ago.

His time with the Buffs began with three substitute appearances before he got his first start in a penalty shootout defeat to Caledonian Braves. He retained his place for the next game which was a 4-0 win over Celtic B in league action.

Unfortunately, injury then ruled him out for three matches but he made his return as a substitute in a win over Troon at the weekend.

LIAM DOLAN

Scotland Under 17s international Liam Dolan has become a regular at Albion Rovers where he has made nine appearances so far working under former Thistle defender Steven Saunders.

Those nine games include eight full 90s and two clean sheets with their next fixture being a Scottish Gas Men’s Scottish Cup Round 1 tie against Pollok this weekend.

MATTHEW FALCONER

The most recent Jag to head out on loan, Matthew Falconer signed with League 2 side Kelty Hearts just under three weeks ago.

The midfielder would make his debut for Kelty the day after joining as a starter in a 4-1 defeat to league leaders Clyde.

He then came off the bench in a 3-1 loss to Edinburgh City before starting back-to-back KDM Evolution Trophy ties; a defeat to Hearts B and a win over Montrose.

THOMAS HORN

19-year-old striker Thomas Horn returned for a second loan stint with Cumbernauld Colts at the end of August and has picked up where he left off last season when he scored 9 times for the Lowland League West side.

He re-debuted in a 3-1 win over Troon during which he scored a goal, set one up and earned the Man of the Match award – a sign of things to come.

All in all, he’s scored six goals in eight appearances since re-signing including the equaliser last midweek as the Colts claimed a point against League 2 side Stirling Albion in the KDM Evolution Trophy.

RICCO DIACK

Travelling much further than the rest for his loan move, Ricco Diack joined Ross County on 31st August.

He has played seven times for the Staggies already including three starts, all of which have come in the KDM Evolution Trophy.

Ricco got his first goal involvement with an assist in County’s 8-0 win over Queen of the South before grabbing his first goal from the penalty spot at Cove Rangers.

This past week he was amongst the goals again scoring two against Clachnacuddin and three against Hearts B in a pair of convincing KDM Evolution Trophy victories.
